About North Dakota HOSA
HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA's two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people.
North Dakota HOSA has 528 members, 21 advisors, and 16 local chapters.
Preeti Chemiti, President
Brendon Gibson, President-Elect
Brendon Gibson is a sophomore at Killdeer High School. He is an active member in many clubs such as Robotics, Student Council, Science Olympiad, HOSA-Future Health Professionals, and Save North Dakota Trails. After high school, Brendon plans to attend Duke University and aspires to become an anesthesiologist. He is a funny, sharp and intelligent student who strives on helping others accomplish their dreams. Brendon is the 2018-2019 State President-Elect and looks forward to continued years of leadership with HOSA!
Dhruvika Patel, Eastern Region Vice President
Dhruvika Patel is a senior at West Fargo Sheyenne High School. Besides being involved in HOSA, she also participates in Speech, Debate, Student Congress, National Honor Society, Tennis, Sinfonia Orchestra, Student Ambassadors, Science Olympiad, and the Academic Olympics. Along with being a HOSA officer, she holds office positions for National Honor Society, Speech, Debate, and Student Ambassadors. In the summer of 2017, Dhruvika was in a 6-week science program at Governor's School held at NDSU where she got to help conduct research. Last year, she enjoyed working on a project with her friends in HOSA called "Be Kind to the Mind" where they were able to raise money for people suffering with mental illnesses. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at hospitals and old age homes, watching movies, rollerblading with her friends and younger brother, and traveling. She aspires to go into the medical field one day as a pediatrician or neonatologist.
Garrett Calkins, Western Region Vice President
Garrett Calkins is a senior at Killdeer High School. Aside from HOSA, Garrett is involved in Track & Field, Cross Country, Robotics, Science Olympiad, Band, and Choir. Garrett is also involved in community service projects and is training to become an emergency medical responder. After his graduation in 2019, he plans to study Medicine at the University of North Dakota and later pursue a career in neurology. In his free time, he loves to run, read, and help others.
