New Advisors

Welcome to North Dakota HOSA!

Thank you for your time and dedication to starting a new chapter,
joining an existing chapter, or even taking on a new role within an existing chapter!

The 2023-2024 theme this year is
Dare to Create!

You have the opportunity to influence the minds of our future health professionals, and North Dakota HOSA is here to help you do just that!

  • Here are some helpful suggestions to help new advisors gain confidence and skills:

  • Expose your chapter!
Get the students, the school, and
the local community involved in membership building. Use previous employment networks and relationships to talk about your role as a local advisor, skills students are learning, and how this important work is building tomorrow's healthcare workforce.

  • Get to know North Dakota HOSA.
Take some time to explore the HOSA resources for new advisors including HOSA history, example bylaws, fundraiser ideas, affiliation instructions, and so much more. They can be found in the Chapter Advisor Resource Guide.

  • Set up your first chapter meetings

    • Get to know your HOSA students, especially if they are not your classroom students.

    • Create a local "program of work" to guide the activities throughout the school year, including community outreach with Be the Match, local .

    • Go over bylaws, using ND HOSA's as an example.

    • Elect local officers, such as president, vice president, secretary/reporter are good to start.

    • Plan for future meetings and how to expand membership.

  • Get your questions answered.
Reach out to your State Director with questions that come up along the way, and don't be afraid to reach out to fellow advisors throughout North Dakota or even other states
