T-shirt and Pin Design Contest
Closed for the 2025-2026 School Year
The North Dakota HOSA T-Shirt/ State Pin Design Contest invites members from across North Dakota to create the official T-shirt and/or Pin for the upcoming State Leadership Conference. This contest celebrates creativity, healthcare inspiration, and student leadership while contributing directly to North Dakota HOSA’s statewide branding. Winning Pin will also be represented during Pin Trading at the International Leadership Conference.
Who Can Participate?
- All active North Dalpta HOSA members (Middle School, Secondary, Postsecondary/Collegiate)
- Designs must be created by an individual student
- One entry per student/team
- Teams are allowed to submit a design but contributors must be listed
Theme and Design Requirements
Design Focus
Your design should reflect:
- The mission of HOSA—Future Health Professionals
- Healthcare, leadership, and service
- North Dakota HOSA spirit and professionalism
- Motifs relevant to North Dakota may be used
Required Elements
- Include the text “ND HOSA” or “North Dakota HOSA”
- Use a maximum of 2–3 colors (not including shirt color)
- Design should work on navy, white, gray, black, black, and neutral colored shirts
- The HOSA emblem may be used but must remain unaltered
Please Avoid
- Copyrighted or trademarked images/logos that you do not own
- Excessive detail that cannot be screen-printed clearly
- Heavy gradients, complex shadows, or glow effects
- Content not aligned with HOSA values or professionalism
File and Technical Specifications
- File type: PNG, PDF or JPG
- Resolution: 300 dpi or higher
- Transparent background preferred (if possible)
- Recommended size: at least 8 × 10 inches (or similar ratio)
- File name format: LastName_Chapter_TShirtContest
How to Submit Your Design
- Finalize your artwork following the guidelines above.
- Prepare your file in the correct format and resolution.
- Upload your file as an attachment to ND HOSA email: ndhosa@mayvillestate.edu:
- Your full name
- Chapter / school name
- A brief design rationale (2–3 sentences)
Submission Deadline: January 1, 2026
Judging Criteria
Entries will be evaluated using the following rubric:

| Relevance to ND HOSA | Clearly reflects healthcare, leadership, and the HOSA mission |
| Design Quality | Clean layout, strong visual impact, and good use of space |
| Printability | Meets color limits and technical specs; easy to reproduce on T-shirts |
Winner Recognition
The winning designer will receive:
- Their artwork featured on the official ND HOSA State Leadership Conference T-shirt
- Recognition at the 2026 ND HOSA State Leadership Conference
- Spotlight on ND HOSA social media and website
- A certificate of recognition
- One complimentary conference T-shirt or Pin for winning designs

- Contest Opens: November 1
- Submission Deadline: January 1
- Judging Period: January 15 - 31
- Winner Announced: February 15
- Shirt Reveal: North Dakota HOSA State Leadership Conference

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the HOSA emblem be used in the design? Yes, but it must not be altered in color, proportion, or layout. It should follow HOSA brand guidelines.
Can I submit a hand-drawn design? Yes. Please scan or photograph your artwork in high resolution and save as a PNG or JPG file.
Can a chapter submit multiple entries? Yes. There is no limit on chapter entries, but each student may submit only one design.
Will I receive feedback on my design? Formal feedback is not guaranteed, but ND HOSA may share general tips and highlights after judging.
